Shell Barrier (シェルバリア Sheru Baria) is a hemispheric barrier-type defensive spell cast by Ginga Nakajima in StrikerS.
Consuming large amount of mana, the spell is able to preserve for a certain period of time, to protect the covered persons or properties from heat or shock.[1]
Despite its similar visual effect with Circle Protection from the Midchildan magic system, Shell Barrier is more likely arranged specifically for weak/injured allies or rescue targets, instead of used as an instant defence by the caster.
Name
In Sound Stage X, the similar spell cast by Subaru Nakajima to cover Ixveria is known as Shell Protection (シェルプロテクション Sheru Purotekushon), which is likely the same spell considering its nature.
Notable uses
- Four years before the start of StrikerS, Ginga, at the age of 13, casts this spell to protect the other victims in the 0071 Coastal Airport 8 fire, as she leaves to search for Subaru.
- Subaru casts Shell Protection in StrikerS Sound Stage X to protect Ixveria when she fights against Mariage.
