Distortion Shield (ディストーションシールド Disutōshon Shīrudo) is a ceremonial spell cast by Lindy Harlaown in Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha.[1] It is a wide-area defense by distorting the space dimension, used against large scale destruction.[2] Such distortion may also be seen as a force field.
As it requires substantial amount of mana to distort the dimension, it is nearly impossible for a mage to cast the spell on one's own.
Notable uses
In Nanoha (ep.12) / The MOVIE 1st, Lindy casts the spell in the Garden of Time, under the mana support of Arthra, to reduce the effect of chrono-quake created by Presea Testarossa. The mana wings on her back represent the portion of energy provided by Arthra not absorbed into her body.
